TIMELINE

In spring 2019, NZ Plant Producers Inc. joined Te Uru Rākau Forestry New Zealand to make the first ever survey of New Zealand’s capacity to grow native plant seedlings.

The Native Plant Nurseries Survey covers a wide range of native plant nurseries, including commercial, Iwi and volunteer groups. We ask nursery operators about the number of plants they produce, how many people they employ, and other questions to help get more understanding of the scale and potential of the industry.New Zealander love native trees, and revegetation planting is happening at a greater rate than ever before. That’s why we need to identify who is producing our native seedlings and how we can help them grow more.

The survey is designed and conducted by Harmonic Analytics, using and online survey backed up with detailed interviews conducted by NZ Plant Producers staff. More than 120 organisations have completed the survey.

As at November 2019 preliminary results have been assessed and data analysis is under way.
